I'm extremely attached to my pince-nez...

You get a full-size inflatable doll and a digital kitten to raise instead of a live child, will you become a millionaire in 10 years?
What are these "AI glasses" supposed to do? I don't understand.
I wear glasses for close-up work, including at the computer, but I don't see how the addition of AI would make them function any better.
Now some kind of translator chip plugged directly into the brain's language centre - I could see the use of that. Like Star Trek's universal translator.

My normal, rather cheap glasses from a German optometrist chain do just fine. I don't see what they could do better if they were AI-enshitti... sorry, AI-"enhanced".

BRING IT ON! We have to adjust to modern times if we still want to be relevant.

No to a fun device but yes to a face mask...

The real question is: Would I even be allowed to wear them? I think in the EU, I'd have to wave a red flag while wearing glasses equipped with a camera. And if the camera is recording (and using facial recognition technology), I'd probably need to notify everyone, ask for consent (in writing), and jump through a few legal hoops...

It seems as if it were a sort of campaign to force people to use AI gadgets, aiming to make human brains dumber.
Why would I need glasses with a camera? I already have a camera on my phone!
Why would I need glasses with translation? I already have Google Translator and Meta's Llama on my phone! (Even if I don't want it).
Why would I need glasses with voice control?
The hype is getting highly embarrassing.
Nice try, but I prefer contacts
Unmanned MT/AI rubbish is contaminating the internet at the speed of forest fires, and I'll soon have to drive a nosy 4-wheeled smartphone instead of a car.
Do I want AI glasses to show me sponsored places that can't be missed with 20% off my second purchase, and, as a potential side dish, monitor exactly what I'm looking at?
No.

| I wear them but just for excitement! | Aug 22, 2025 |
I like to wear new gadgets just to know how is it, but I will come back to my normal teaching-translation life after the excitement disappears, and that could take 1–2 days long. Likewise, I like my profession, and the way that I do it is uncomparable to a device.

I get no excitement from these gadgets. I am starting to envy the Amish.

If it goes to mass production (why not?), who the heck will need you or me as a paid middleman? Or will it be by prescription for certified diploma-caring translators only?
OMG, I got sucked into this utter nonsense...
