I work and that's my "career status". However, I'd rather not have it, be rich and sit on a beach sipping margaritas.

On the positive side, I actually love translating, I love not having to take part in the cataclysmic morning commute in my region, I am making a pretty decent income and I do absolutely have the impression that my clients are happy with my work.
On the negative side, I find myself struggling for every single cent of my usual rates more and more often, and even some of the best and most loyal of my clients have been pushing hard for MTPE, mostly without being aware of the horrendous "qualit... See more

On the negative side, I find myself struggling for every single cent of my usual rates more and more often, and even some of the best and most loyal of my clients have been pushing hard for MTPE, mostly without being aware of the horrendous "quality" produced by standard, non-neural machine translators. And while I am willing to acknowledge that NMT is a feasible solution for very easy sources, none of them are even using DeepL yet, not to mention any more advanced solutions available on the market. ▲ Collapse
