Looking forward to CatCraft Oct 16

An ambitious lineup — having one craft-oriented suite covering image, vector, video and layout work would be handy for translators who wear many hats. The CatCraft idea is the one I'd watch most closely, since lightweight CAT tools are exactly where many of us want to see innovation. How far along is the reverse-engineering effort, and is there an early build that translators could try?

I don't believe the development of CatCraft has started yet. However, there are alternatives, such as Simpelvertaler, Supervertaler, and some paid ones.

The reality is that none of those apps is production-ready yet.

"Reverse-engineered Trados..."

From what I've read, all code was written from scratch in Rust using Claude.
They are apparently alpha versions, released a week ago or so, so the future's wide open

Don't use free apps Oct 19

It's clear why you shouldn't use free apps. They will steal your work. Don't believe what they tell you.

ZD Net:

Like the other ArtCraft apps, the team wrote PDFCraft in Rust, using AI to reverse-engineer the original into an app available for Linux, FreeBSD, MacOS, and Windows.

The video sounds more like a promotional video.

By the way, a colleague of mine suggested the name "Craftwerk" for this suite.

I don't quite understand why (or how) free apps will steal your (whose?) work. I use some free software, in some cases I gave money to the developers because I like the software so much. If provided for free willingly...
